Direct experience through exercise

enso1Exercise as Ground

Living your average life these days can be a pretty trying task.

What with the global economic situation, lost loans, loss of security at work, the stresses that this has on family life and work responsibilities.. the list goes on.

It is very easy in the midst of all of this to throw in the towel on ourselves and stop doing the things we need to do in order to feel good.

Let me remind you- it is for all of these reasons above that you need to keep going.

Life goes by us at high speed, and only gets faster. The time you spend taking care of yourself doesn’t have to be long and drawn out, but it needs to be consistent and sustainable.

45 minutes should be your basic rule, but if you cant manage that, speed up the intensity of your routine so that your body gets both physical benefit of working your muscles and maintaining your mobility, with the added expression of great breathing- giving you a cardio vascular workout at the same time.

Exercise also grounds us out, and brings us back to the moment and this very body that is yours for the distance.

Damn, I am totally angry, god my neck is killing me, I should really talk with the wife and try and sort things out….

Whatever it is, be kind to yourself, try to recognize and alleviate these stresses, and all the while do something good for you.

If you are having a stressful day, or stressful life, make sure you do something to get back to you. Consistently.

Perhaps even start thinking or recognizing that exercise can be, could be if you wanted to be, a form of meditation in action- truly being in the moment. A celebration of life, and the fact that all these current day stresses will pass. So keep taking care of you and your eyes firmly fixed on the big picture.

Just remember: think quality over quantity.

Peace,

Markeu
